About the Author Julie Sutherland grew-up in Melbourne. She completed a BA and Post Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) at La Trobe University. Besides education, her other loves are sailing and animal welfare. As part of the comprehensive kindergarten curriculum, she was expected to teach sight words. It was the first time for her to know about this approach and sight words. She found, however, it wasn’t long before she had a class of budding readers on her hands. Presently Julie is completing her Masters in Education at FNU. Her focus is on early childhood education (ECE) and advancing national literacy with sight words and big books.
